What should I do with this?

I received an email, it says: "Contact admin @ abcxyzcompanyname.com and request to be put in touch with John @ abcxyzcompanyname.com. Mention the code "BX73" . They should be able to take care of you from there."

    What should I do now?

I should send an email to admin @ abcxyzcompanyname.com, what should I write inside the email?

    Thanks.

(In case you are wondering about the spaces in the email, I need to put space in the email so that it can show up in this post)

Re: What should I do with this?

I have just received an email instructing me to contact you at this address and to ask to be put in touch with [john's email] regarding code BX73.
I appreciate your assistance in putting me in touch with John.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

I pretty much agree with Barb, but I would write "I'd appreciate your assistance in putting me in touch with John."

I am wondering why the sender do not want to tell me just email John directly?

Re: What should I do with this?

Was this email from somebody you know, or some company you'd previously done business with? It kind of sounds like a phishing scam to me.

If you don't know why somebody would be emailing you to ask you in a roundabout way to contact somebody else, I'd probably think it was spam and delete it, without having even opened it.

Would it be better if I include the original message too?

    Something like this:

    Hi,

I have just received an email from Peter instructing me to contact you at this address and to ask to be put in touch with [john's email] regarding code BX73. This is what Peter told me in the email: "Contact admin @ abcxyzcompanyname.com and request to be put in touch with John @ abcxyzcompanyname.com. Mention the code "BX73"

    Thanks,

It is not a spam. I knew the company. I guess maybe admin @ abcxyzcompanyname.com needs to setup something or needs to know the code or needs to know John is in touch with me.
