    Yes,thatīs right but "batty" is more frequently used as a slangword and can mean different things to different people,in the UK,it takes after Ali G the meaning of homosexual men...

    "Mildly eccentric" or "mildly crazy", rather than "hyper".

    It probably derives from the now little-heard expression "to have bats in one's belfry", which means "to be somewhat eccentric", "to be not entirely of sound mind", "to be a little crazy", e.g.

    1. He's got bats in his belfry.
