    have been or had been

    I am not sure which tense to use - present perfect or past perfect - in the sentence below.

    (ex) Until the end of two months ago, I had been or have been traveling a lot.

    I have trouble figuring out when to use present perfect and when to use past perfect. Please explain this. Thanks for helping me.

    I would use past perfect, but I would change the sentence a bit.

    Up until two months ago, I had been traveling a lot.
