[FONT=&quot]Is the following right? For example, do I need to put "the" in front of "school boards"?

The majority of school board members are elected. As elected officials, school boards are accountable to a wide variety of stakeholders. As board members, school boards are required to hire and evaluate the superintendent. [/FONT]

The short answer is no.

However, the text is not all natural, so consider revising it, e.g.

The majority of school board members are elected. As elected officials, [STRIKE]school boards[/STRIKE] they are accountable to a wide [STRIKE]variety[/STRIKE] range of stakeholders. [STRIKE]As board members, school boards[/STRIKE] They are also required to hire and evaluate the superintendent.

There is only one school board with many board members in a school. You appear to have confused school board with board members.
