    Question Help needed with word classes!

    Dear teachers,

    I need help with the following. Not very sure which word class the words in bold belong to. :(

    1. mangrove forest
    2. the museum was first opened as a hospital
    3. to better reflect
    4. it was recognized as...
    5. and now that it is...
    6. public
    transport

    What do you mean by 'word class', Joanna? Parts of speech? A dictionary will tell you that. Click here and bookmark the site for future reference.

    Actually, a dictionary may not be terribly helpful. The problem here is that not even grammarians will agree completely. For example:

    1. Is mangrove a noun, part of a compound noun or an adjective?
    4. I this a passive construction, or is recognized an adjective?
    6. A similar question to #1. There is also the question of whether the transport is public or ​for the public.
