They both work, but I prefer "on".
Our class is having a discussion on the Mormons in Utah. I say:
Yeah, I saw them on the news.
Yeah, I saw them in the news.
Yeah, I always see them in/on the news.
Are all of them acceptable ?
If you mean on TV, then I would only use on.I could use in if you also meant newspapers.
All of them? Always? That station must have a very wide-angle lens!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
