in fact (to say that someone guessed right)

    Hi,

Actually can be used to say that somebody 'guessed right.'

A: Did you enjoy your holiday?
    B: Very much, actually.

This is taken from Encyclopedic Graded Grammar Vol 2, page 647.

Could you please tell me if we can use 'in fact' instead of 'actually' in the above one?

A: Did you enjoy your holiday?
    B: Very much, in fact.

    Thanks.

The simple answer to your question is "yes," though just "very much" makes the point. It seems to me that by using "in fact" or "actually," there could be some expectation by one of the speakers that the holiday had not been enjoyed.

I have a similar feeling - or at least that it had not been enjoyed very much.
