    I have been to London

    I have been to London.
    I had gone to London.
    I have gone to London.

Are all the above sentences correct and do they convey the same meaning?

Re: I have been to London

    They are all correct.

    1. Means that, at some time in your life, you have gone to London and left it later.
    2. Is probably an explanation of why you were not in a particular place at some time in the past.
    3. This seems like a message you have left somewhere to explain why you are not there.

Re: I have been to London

In some contexts, I'd consider #1 and #3 as equivalent. In other contexts, I'd agree with Piscean's perception.

I can't really think of any context where the 2nd one would carry the same meaning as either #1 or #3.
