    Hi,

    Is ''...while women were sending/carry food for the day and other basic necessities to the battlefield'' correct?

    It's difficult to judge a sentence fragment, but even so, you're inconsistent on your verb tenses, so no.

    You need to attach an "ing" to "carry". Also, the use of a slash between sending and carrying is not a good idea. You seem to understand that send and carry differ in meaning. Therefore you should see that the word or is much better than a slash, which is not a word.

    Yes it is.

    You already used "sending." It is "carrying" you need to use.
