    Hi,

    Do we swim ''in a lake or at a lake''? What preposition should I use?

    We swim in a lake.
    We go to the lake. We boat on the lake. We picnic at the lake.

    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
