    Wait for or await?

I awaited my package to come from India. (= look forward to the probable occurrence of)
    or
I waited for my package to come from India. (= stay in one place and anticipate or expect something)

Microsoft Word suggests I should use 'await' but I feel 'wait for' is the correct alternative?
Time stays long enough for anyone who will use it.

Only the second sentence is correct.

    Re: Wait for or await?

Would the first be correct if 'to come' was omitted?
