    Distance as a verb.

    Dear teachers

    I wonder if it is possible to use the verb distance as below.

    -They distanced from each other. ( either physically or emotionally)
    If it's wrong, what alternatives do you suggest?

    I would appreciate if you help me with this one. How can one say that something caused distance between two people?Is the underlined part correct? If it is not, can you suggest any idiom?
