Dear all,

Do you say, "My neighborhood is friendly"?

I thought neighborhood normally refers to an area rather than people.

So, I usually say, "People in my neighborhood are friendly", or "My neighbors are friendly"

But I happened to see the sentence below.

"My neighborhood is friendly and safe and charming."

Is this good English?

Thank you!

I would say: "I live in a friendly, safe and charming neighbourhood."

A neighborhood can be described as friendly. Of course, that applies to the people who live and work there.

The same applies to "safe". A neighbourhood itself can't be safe or not safe. It's the people who live there or who frequent it who dictate its safety.

Or radiation, but that is not the common use of "unsafe neighborhood".
