Question Help me understand what my friend's answer mean?

I asked a friend of mine about two sentences and this was his answer:

"Your second question mentions a possible connection between the two things.

But your first question just says 'speculation'. Speculation is guessing - but you have to speculate about something.
You are not speculating about the two individual things.
You are speculating about a connection between them."

Can someone explain to me what doe his answer mean ?

Why not show us the two sentences, so we know what this is all about?
