Struggling to correct a sentence involving singular and plurals.

A student has written "For me, the most beautiful place is the beaches." He means more than one beach in his hometown, but place is singular hence use of is. Not sure how to correct!
    Thanks for advice.

Neither 'is' nor 'are' makes a grammatical sentence.

'For me, the most beautiful place is the beach.'

For me, the most beautiful places are the beaches.'

    I am not a teacher

The beaches is a place in Canada.
To me this makes sense as long as the student means the beaches in Canada.

Charlie specifically said "He means more than one beach in his hometown". If you are referring to a place in capital, then 'Beaches' must begin with a capital letter.
