    smashed windows

    Can one say
    a. I heard smashed windows.
    instead of
    b. I heard windows being smashed.
    ?

    Can one say
    c. I heard an opened door.
    instead of
    d. I heard a door being opened.
    ?

    (c) sounds absurd. (a) seems illogical, but my feeling is that people say things like that.
    Many thanks.

    Re: smashed windows

a and c would not be said by the great majority of native speakers.

    Re: smashed windows

If you're going to use participial adjectives, I'd use the '-ing' forms instead of the '-ed' forms - 'smashing windows' or 'opening door'.
