    Is this sentence correct? Should I use "US" or "WE".

    The only magician who could transform us into the ONE we dream to be is " US" .

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Hello, Wint:

    As the teacher told us: "The magician is us."

    But I thought that it might be OK to tell you that according to older rules, the answer would be: "The magician is we."

    The magician = subject.
    is = linking verb,
    we = subjective complement ("we" refers to "the magician").

    In other words, the linking verb is something like the symbol =

    The magician = we; we = the magician.

    Today in 2015, for example, "everyone" here in the United States says, "It is me." The rule, however, calls for "It is I." But such a sentence is no longer natural-sounding English and maybe it never was.

    Why "magician is" and not "magicians are", since "us" is in plural form

    It is a metaphor. We ourselves are the ones who can transform us. We are the magician. The magician is an aggregate metaphor for those who can affect us. It just happens to be us.
