    basic Christianity

There's another element present in triplet praying -- and in many other times of group or personal prayer. It's the posture of the will. The attitude that predominates in our basic Christianity gets reflected in the attitude we have to prayer and to the disposition of the will. (Three Times Three Equals Twelve by Brian Mills)

What does basic Christianity mean in the above passage?
    I need native speakers' help.

    Re: basic Christianity

I am guessing that means things in common to all Christians.

You are likely to have a difficult time understanding this text. Almost by definition discussions of religion will have many mystical or vague aspects to them and those of us who have not read the book will have a difficult time understanding the writer's intention.

If this book is important to you, then I suggest you focus on the big aspects of the meaning and don't try to figure out every single turn of phrase used in it. We won't be able to help you.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: basic Christianity

I take 'basic Christianity' to mean 'basic Christian beliefs', but I am not a teacher.

    Re: basic Christianity

I'd take it, in this case, to mean their basic Christian beliefs (this small group's), which might or might not be orthodox, and which are probably alluded to somewhere in the book.

    Re: basic Christianity

I would interpret it as meaning those beliefs which pretty much everyone can hold and grasp, rather than the more obscure and erudite aspects of Christianity. Like Raymott, I'd think of it as the core beliefs of that group. (Not a Christian)
