    like his best friend was

    Are these sentences correct:
    1) They will kill him as his best friend was killed.
    2) They will kill him, as his best friend was killed.

    3) They will kill him as his best friend was.

    4) They will kill him, as his best friend was.

    5) They will kill him like his best friend was killed.
    6) They will kill him, like his best friend was killed.

    7) They will kill him like his best friend was.

    8) They will kill him, like his best friend was.

    I think 'like' is frowned upon in such sentences, but is commonly used.
