    get a pass

Set aside for a moment the countless rapists who go unpunished, what about people like Cassie's mom? Sewing her daughter up to a monster. She gets a big pass. She's not even in the system. Who's gonna make her pay for what she did?

What does "get a pass" mean here?

    Thanks in advance
