"She is not short of excuses when things go wrong."

I have one more question with "short".

What does "The team was five players short." mean?

Re: to be not short of excuses

The person is lacking the amount required.

    Cashier: That's five dollars please.
Customer: I only have four dollars.
Cashier: You are one dollar short.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
