I'm in the seventh grade of middle school.

Of all these, which is not correct? Does "the" have to be included or can it be omitted?

    1. I'm in the seventh grade of middle school.
    2. I'm in seventh grade of middle school.
    3. I'm in grade seven of middle school.

    They are all OK.

#3 sounds odd to me without "in" before "grade seven".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    I missed that, ems.

Re: I'm in the seventh grade of middle school.

It was a typo. I meant to inlude "in" definitely. Sorry!

And now you have put it in, making posts #3 and #4 seem strange. Please don't edit posts after they have received a response.

Or at least fill out the box saying why you have edited it.

This is actually a forum rule. See the very last sentence here.

Re: I'm in the seventh grade of middle school.

From my perspective, none are right.

Middle school has three grades. To say "the seventh grade of middle school" sounds real off.

If you are in seventh grade, you are in middle school (or junior high) so there is no need to state it.

If you must, the say "I am in seventh grade and am in middle school" or "I am in middle school in the seventh grade."

    All American phrasing, of course.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: I'm in the seventh grade of middle school.

I agree with Barb, none sounds natural to me either. There are three grades in middle school: 6, 7, and 8. At the very least it's redundant or tautological to say "I'm in the seventh grade -- at middle school." Otherwise, they're a bit like saying, 'I'm in my twelfth year of secondary school.'
