with means other than parallel pipe and lashing wire

    Hello everybody!

The whole sentence is "Hose end connections must be made and secured with means other than parallel pipe and lashing wire". It is about Control of Industrial Gases.

What is the meaning of "with means other than parallel pipe and lashing wire".

I assume that "other than" means literally "other than", not "except".

    What do you think?

    Thank you.

    You are correct.

The hose ends are to be secured. Workers are not permitted to secure hose ends by using parallel pipe and lashing wire.
