    Until with Used To

Can you use Until with "used to"?

Until 2013, I used to live in France.

    vs

Until 2013, I lived in France.

Are both oK or what is the reason you can used simple past version. Also is "used to live" simple past also or is it a different tense?

    Re: Until with Used To

    Only your second works.

But you can use "until"with "used to".

I used to eat peanuts until I discovered I was allergic to them.

    Re: Until with Used To

'Used to be/do something' cannot be used with a number that refers to a point in time/a period of time.

    Is that correct?

    Re: Until with Used To

Mike's sentence disproves that theory. It uses "used to do something" with a reference to a point in time.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

But his sentence refers to no number, which is the main point of the theory.
