    Verbs with lots of meanings (understanding a video clip)

    Hello, I am trying to understand a video.

    From 19:44-19:53(minute):
    http://putlocker.is/watch-scrubs-tvs...putlocker.html

    I want to focus in this sentence: I'll take it! I will take the beer. You will beat it.

    In dictionaries from English to Hebrew the translation of the word beat is: to overcome, to hit, to defeat. In the Hebrew subtitles(someone translated this series) for that the translation of beat is "you, go away".

    How, as not with English mother language can know from many many translations the correct translation to "to beat"?(the translation "go away" is what the translator wrote, but I don't see this translation in dictionaries). I mean - its only the translation of the translator(of the subtitles)but I can see his translation in dictionaries

    Thanks you.

    The phrasal verb "beat it" means "go away".
    “Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Yes- it is usually used as an imperative, like Get lost.
