    Single out

    Apparently"Single out" is used to select one that is the best from a group.
    What is used if we intend to say to select some that are better than the others ( more than one) from a group.
    I found the word "Cull" but I am not sure it is usable in this case and is not archaic.
    I prefer idioms or phrasal verbs.

    'Cull' is usually used negatively: to weed out the least desirable.

    Consider cherry-pick.
