    [sic]

"I have never heard of such a young player being asked to play three games in five days [sic]." [The Guardian citing the Liverpool FC manager, Jürgen Klopp.]

Why is sic used in the above sentence? Is any mistake or oddity coming from Jürgen Klopp's
    statement?

    Thank you.

    Re: [sic]

It appears that he actually played three games in six days. The Guardian is accurately reporting inaccurate words.

    Re: [sic]

Of course, playing three games in five days doesn't preclude him from having played five games in six days - so it's not necessarily inaccurate. Though he would have had to play two games on the sixth day.

Sorry, Ray. He actually played three games in six days. I have now corrected the error in my last post.

So we still can't answer the OP. I suggest we'd need a link, or a copy and paste.

He played three games in six days, but Kopp said five days. The Guardian put in the [sic] to tell readers they had not made a mistake in reporting Kopp's words -- though he had.
