    From vs. Since

Hi, I'm new here. I've searched different threads and forums but I can't find an exact answer to my question. So hopefully someone can help me..

    Which sentence is correct?
He's settled down quite a bit since 40 years ago.
He's settled down quite a bit from 40 years ago.

I'm writing a song about a musician growing old, and the line before that ends with show. So I sort of need this line to end with ago, but I'm not sure which is correct. If any.. Ha. Thanks

    Re: From vs. Since

Either one would work in a song, in my opinion.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    — Arthur Schopenhauer
