    expect vs is expecting

What are the difference between two sentences?
I know the tenses are difference, but their meaning are as the same?

"I expect your academic result will be good in the next exam."

"He is expecting the China golden market will be rising about 2.3% in next few months."

    Re: expect vs is expecting

The second is less certain for me- he may be a little out in his estimate, while the first would be surprised if the person failed.
