Do you know what is needed right now?

    Hello everybody

It's very hot outside. I and my wife are walking in the street and we are boiling.
    My wife said:
Do you know what is needed right now?
I said : A can of cold soda.
(My wife wanted to know what can refresh us in this hot weather)
Is this sentence idiomatic in English?

    Thank you.

Re: Do you know what is needed right now?

It works for me although you would probably be more likely to hear "Do you know what I/we need right now?"

Note that we generally put ourselves last in a list of people so we would say "My wife and I ...". Also, you have mixed tenses. You started with "It's very hot ... we are boiling" (present tense). You then used "My wife said" and "I said".

It would be more natural to use either "It was very hot ... we were boiling" followed by "My wife/I said" or "It is very hot ... we are boiling", followed by "My wife says/I say ...".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Keramus, there is nothing to stop you posting on multiple forums but if you do so, please at least tell us what other answers you have received and why you weren't satisfied with them.

Dear moderator , I didn't mean to be rude. I wanted to hear different opinions from other people. If this really upset you , I apologize. I looked for an idiom and I received my answer. Sorry again, I promise this will never happen again. never. Please forgive me.

Re: Do you know what is needed right now?

I didn't say that you shouldn't do it again. I'm simply saying that you should tell the members of each forum that you are asking the identical question on a different forum and explain why. It's particularly useful for us to know what you've been told on another forum so that we can avoid duplicating answers.

Re: Do you know what is needed right now?

Welcome to this forum, keramus. You will find that several of us, including at least two of the moderators here, ask and/or answer questions in more than one forum. There is nothing wrong with that but, as ems suggested, we don't like duplicating answers. I find it a little frustrating to spend time answering a question on one forum and then go to another and find that somebody has already given a perfectly satisfactory answer to the same question from the same person.
