    a lot of questions

    a. She didn't reply to a lot of questions.
    b. She didn't reply to a lot of the questions.

    Aren't these sentences ambiguous?

    1. There were a lot of questions she didn't reply to
    or
    2. She replied to few questions.

In case (1), it is possible that she did reply to a lot of questions. There were a lot of questions she replied to and a lot of questions she did not reply to.

    Many thanks.

    Re: a lot of questions

It depends on how many questions there were. If there were 500 questions and she replied to 250 of them, you could say "She didn't reply to a lot of the questions" but I wouldn't say "She replied to few questions". 250 is still quite a lot.

If there were 10 questions and she answered only 3, then you could use both "She didn't reply to a lot of the questions" and "She replied to only a few of the questions".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
