    They are both correct. Whether or not to use a comma there is a matter of style rather than grammar.

    There is a "rule" that a comma should be used before but only when it introduces an independent clause.
    Is "Jack isn't" an independent clause?

    Yes, but that "rule" is more of a guideline. I would not use a comma there.
