    Future Perfect/Future Simple

Suppose we're in November, I'm taking a course, but I don't know exactly when it will be through. I'm planning on traveling in January. Which question would be more natural to ask the teacher?

    a) Mr. Smith, will we finish the course by January?
    b) Mr. Smith, will we have finished the course by January?

    Thanks, in advance.

    Re: Future Perfect/Future Simple

"Mr. Smith, will we finish the course by January?" is more natural.
