    they choose that vocation

People are not born to be scientists, they choose that vocation because of their environment and education as a profession that comes with responsibilities to science itself and to everyone.
(A Beginnerís View of our Electric Universe; Tom Findlay)

Would you be so kind as to tell me whether it should be read as follows: 'they choose that vocation (because of their environment and education) as a profession that comes with responsibilities to science itself and to everyone'?

    Thanks.

    Re: they choose that vocation

It doesn't make a lot of sense as it is written.
ďEvery miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.Ē

    Re: they choose that vocation

And in any case, a vocation is something you can't choose. The choice is whether to answer it.
