    Post the meaning of "of"?

    Hi, teachers:

Please read the following sentence i came across when reading online. I'm not sure if it is grammatically correct. What I don't understand is that what's the meaning of the red "of" I mark in here? Why can we use it like this? shouldn't the sentence goes like:"...a student at G University but I am not being too impressed by..."?

Up until early this year I assumed that Merton was a native-born American.I remember picking up a second-hand copy of his autobiography,The Seven Storey Mountain, in the mid-1960s when I was a student at Glasgow University but of not being too impressed by his “escape from the world” slant at a time when priests, monks and nuns were leaving their presbyteries, monasteries and convents in droves: so the book lay unread.

Thank you very much for anyone who's willing to help:)

    Welcome to the forum. superina.

The word 'of' there is incorrect. Delete it, but put nothing in its place.

'I remember picking up his autobiography...but [I remember] not being too impressed by his ...'

    Re: the meaning of "of"?

It looks like the sort of unedited speech - or a hasty edit of writing - that frequently makes people start out on one syntactic track and switch over to another one. If instead of 'remember' it originally had 'have a memory of', that'd explain it.

Thank you so much! I knew it sounds a bit off.
