    Re: Meaning of second

    Welcome to the forum, spaceman.

It is the moment of time when the person saw the picture.

    Always capitalise 'I'.

You only need to state that you are not a teacher when you are answering a question - not asking one.

    Re: Meaning of second

Thank you very much for your help. So just to be 100% safe, both sentences have the same meaning?:
"I saw your picture and I could tell from the second I saw it it´s not Mr. X." has the same meaning as the sentence:
"I saw your picture and I could tell from the moment I saw it it´s not Mr. X." Right?

    Yes.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Re: Meaning of second

Thank you very much. Just to be 100% safe: All in all you can say the author of the sentence in my first post means with second a time second (synonymous for the moment)?
