    Question There exist...

    Hi:
Is it correct to write “There exist procedures that …”, “…” standing for a long part of the sentence?

    Thanks,
    Nyggus

    Re: There exist...

…”, “…”- this punctuation is unclear- wouldn't one ellipsis do?

    Question Re: There exist...

Sorry, it might confusing a bit. "..." stands for anything, e.g., "There exist procedures that may be applied in the problem under consideration, although one has to be aware that they are not optimum under most conditions encountered in practice." Is the "There exist procedures..." correct here?

    Thanks,
    Nyggus

    Re: There exist...

'There exist' is correct, similar to 'there is', 'there are' or 'there goes'.

'Applied in' should be 'applied to'.

    Re: There exist...

    In addition,

Expletive-there is a structural filler. The true subject comes after the verb:

    There exist procedures ... .
    Procedures ... exist.

    All the best.
