    the or zero the

    Please look at my sentences below. I have difficulty using the article "the".

    1. (A. Sweet B. The sweet) memories of my former girlfriend crowded my brain/mind.

    2. (A. Images B. The images) of the horrible multiple pile-up on the freeway came/kept crowding my brain/mind.

    In the above sentences, is "the" absolutely necessary? I think it can be omitted, but I am not sure. Thank you.

    It can be omitted. Using "the" suggests that there are specific memories/images involved. The sentence is absolutely fine without an article.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
