    may certainly

At another time, we may not have the groaning, but we may certainly have the burden conveyed to us. (Brian Mills, Three Times Three Equals Twelve, page 94)

    What does may certainly mean?
    I need native speakers' help.

    Re: may certainly

It's a very odd choice of words. 'May' suggests possibility. I have no idea why Mills used it with 'certainly'.

    '...are very likely to...'

I have no idea what that sentence means – nor the book's title either.

This book is outlining the idea of using prayer triplets in a church setting, ie, groups of 3 people getting together on a regular basis to pray for each other and people they know.

    Re: may certainly

It's clumsy writing- the person wants to suggest certainty but knows he cannot do it 100%.
