Please take a look at my sentence below.
"When the team manager learned that his players (A. threw B. fixed) the game, he lost his temper and banged the table with his fist. "
I know that A is absolutely correct, but I am not sure whether B is also possible. I think B is not good diction here because if the game was fixed, the manager must have been involved in it. It was not possible that he didn't know the game-fixing or game-rigging. Am I right? Thank you.

I'd presume that if the players could throw a game without the manager's knowledge, they could also fix or rig a game - though it would be more difficult.
