    answering phones

    Can one say
    a. In that room, there is a man answering phone calls, classifying documents and organizing the mail.
    b. In that room, there are men answering phone calls, classifying documents and organizing the mail.
    c. In that room, there are men who answer phone calls, classify documents and organize the mail.

    ?

Can one tell in (b) and (c) if each man does one task or if all of them are involved in all the tasks mentioned?

    Many thanks.

    Re: answering phones

    No.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”
