    make aquainted/set sb up/introduce

What is the most commnon verb to be used in the following situation?

My friend meets a lot of people through work, but he found his wife through friends of friends (a friend made them aquainted/set them up/introduced them).

P.S. Could you change this sentence to more natural English?
If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    Re: make aquainted/set sb up/introduce

The sentence is fine. Use "introduced them".
