    The differences between the synonyms AGAIN.

    Hello,Dear teachers !

    Could you help the beginner to understand the difference between synonyms in some words ?

    Here are the sentences:

    1.I've never been on a (long-haul) or (long-distance) flight before.I've only flown in Europe.
    2.There's no (direct) or (straight) flight to Geneva,but you can fly to Luton and catch a (joining) or (connecting) flight from there.
    3.It's only a (small) or (sh
    ort) flight from London to Paris.
    4.Charter flights are generally much cheaper than (scheduled) or (timetabled) flights.
    5.
    There was a lot of turbulence,so we had a pretty (bumpy) or (shaky) flight.It wasn't quite as(level) or (smooth) as we had expected.

    I need an explanation of MEANING and USAGE this words in my speaking or writing. Besides, it's about 2 weeks since I got it and I had a B for that.(Intuition helped).

    1. Long-haul - Because i remember my teacher said : It is when flights between continent.
    2. Direct - ? ; connecting - ?
    3. Short - ?
    4. Scheduled - ?
    5. Shaky - ? ; level - I thought about VIP class or something. Never heard before the word "Smooth" in case of quality.

    Your answers 1 to 4 are correct. 5 should be "bumpy" and "smooth".
