    I wish I would

    Dear teacher

Why 'I wish HE would, I wish THEY would' ARE possible but not ' I wish I would', please? It, seemingly goes against any logic for the following reason:

I should be able to say that 'I wish I would be an actor', which is my unfulfilled desire for the future. However according to this rule I can only say 'I wish I was an actor', which makes it present, not the future, thereby changing its meaning, which I initially wanted to convey!

While you are waiting for an answer, I advise you to read the following thread, where some members recently had a discussion about 'I wish I would'.
    I am not a teacher.
