    Did not Jesus teach this?

Did not Jesus teach this? (quoted from John A. Kitchen, 2006)

John A. Kitchen is a native speaker of English. Is the above sentence acceptable to other native speakers?
    I need native speakers' help.

Re: Did not Jesus teach this?

It's very formal and, to me, rather stuffy, but it's correct.

(Later). I have just Googled Kitchen and learnt that he is a writer of books on religious topics. The expanded negative-interrogative is not uncommon in such writings.

What do you mean by expanded negative-interrogative?

Re: Did not Jesus teach this?

Perhaps I should have said 'non-contracted' - Did not Jesus teach...? rather than Didn't Jesus teach... ?
