    cooler temperatures at higher elevations

    Hi,

What does the underlined phrase mean?

In hot climates hill and mountain resorts are visited for the cooler temperatures at higher elevations. (Source, Wikipedia, mountain resort)
I really don't know. I need your help.

    Thanks a lot

It means that the temperature is lower in the mountains.
