That is because of his hard work.

Jason Wu is a successful designer now. That is because of his hard work.

Is the sentence in red correct?
    I need native speakers' help.

Perfect. I use this construction all the time.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

    Hello, Sitifan:

May I just add my two bits (humble opinion) to the teacher's excellent answer?

I think that some super strict teachers would prefer something like this:

"Jason Wu is a successful designer now. That [ = the fact of his being a successful designer] is due to his hard work."

In modern English, "because of" is indeed now used by many good writers.

But a few very strict writers feel that we should keep "due" as an adjective. (Of course, they have already lost the battle.)

"Because of" should, they say, be used as a preposition: "James Wu has become a successful designer because of his hard work."

Please look at these two sentences that I have made up:

    1. "I got to work late because of heavy traffic."
    2. "My late arrival to work was due to heavy traffic."

I realize that in 2015, most tests would give credit for either "due to" or "because of."

This non-teacher just thought that you might like this extra information.
