He was sure to have done the work.

Does this sentence have any meaning? Is it a correct sentence? If it means anything, please say the meaning of this sentence. And if you have enough time, please say the alternative ways to rewrite this sentence.

Its meaning is obscure. What do you want it to mean?
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

If it's not your own sentence, where did you find it, and in what context?

As I have already told you (here) a better title would have been He was sure to have done the work.

It does if the speaker trusts the person to have done the work.

Re: alternative ways to rewrite a sentence

Even if that were the case, the original sentence is very strange.

Re: alternative ways to rewrite a sentence

There are better ways of putting it, but I can see some meaning there.

Re: alternative ways to rewrite a sentence

Azah, it's clear that you and AzahAzah on WordReference are the same person. You posted your question on Word Reference 5 hours before you posted it here. You had received 3 responses on that forum before you posted it here yet you failed to mention here that you had already been given answers.

It is very irritating to members here to find that they have spent time on a question which has been answered elsewhere.

If you post the same question on two different forums, please make that clear and tell us what responses you have already been given and why you're not satisfied with them.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
