    lots warmer / lots better

    Dear all,

Do you use "lots", instead of "a lot", in the sentences below?

The weather is a lot (lots?) warmer than yesterday.

The test results were a lot (lots?) better than I expected.

In COCA, "a lot better" way outnumbers "lots better". I'd like to make sure if "lots better" sounds as natural as "a lot better".

    Thank you!

    OP

It's used by some. No, it sounds less natural to me.

In BrE, it's correct, but less common.

Re: lots warmer / lots better

I'm much more likely to use 'lots' when I answer a question, than when making a statement or asking a question.

I'd say something like "I'm feeling a lot better today than yesterday."

However, if somebody asked me "Are you feeling better today?", I'm likely to respond with "Yes, lots (better)."
