    Which is better, #1 or #2?


    1. Jenny was preparing for her final exam last night. Meanwhile, her neighbor, Mr. Lin, was holding a party.
    2. Jenny’s neighbor, Mr. Lin, was having a wild party last night while she was preparing for her final exam.

    The version with meanwhile doesn't work very well- the second connects the studies to the problem better.
